2023 - Charged Up

The Game

In CHARGED UP presented by Haas, two competing alliances are invited to process game pieces to bring energy to their community. Each alliance brings energy to their community by retrieving their game pieces from substations and scoring it into the grid. Human players provide the game pieces to the robots from the substations. In the final moments of each match, alliance robots race to dock or engage with their charge station!

Our Robot - Hephaestus

Introducing Hephaestus, our 2023 robot! Our robot is named after the Greek god of fire and metalworking and is built to embody the same qualities of power, precision, and creativity.

Robot Facts:

  • Equipped with a swerve drive, allowing for unmatched maneuverability and precise control on the field

  • Can pick up cones and cubes from both the floor and human player stations.

  • Has the ability to score on all three levels of the grids.

  • In autonomous mode, Hephaestus can place a cube into the low grid and auto-balance on the charge station, or earn mobility points depending on the starting position.

  • During driver-operated mode, Hephaestus can score around 5-6 game pieces. During the end game, Hephaestus can balance in almost any condition or park in the community.
